In this time of unprecedented crisis, we are so happy to have a bit of good news to announce: Camp Dreamcatcher is the recipient of a $10,000 grant from the PHL COVID-19 Fund! The fund was created on March 19 as a partnership between the Philadelphia Foundation and United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey to provide funds to non-profits during the coronavirus crisis.
The grant will ensure that we can continue to assist our Camp Dreamcatcher families, many of whom have been hard hit by the crisis, with shipments of food, clothing, toiletries, and household supplies. Thus far, we have provided emergency support to forty-seven families (190 people) during this crisis. We would like to express our gratitude to the Philadelphia Foundation and United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey for the generous help they have given to us and to so many other non-profits in our area. Thanks to their efforts, non-profits like Camp Dreamcatcher can continue to serve the vulnerable populations facing the most severe effects of COVID-19.
Camp Dreamcatcher has been providing free therapeutic and educational programs to HIV/AIDS impacted youth since 1996, and we will continue to offer our programs during the COVID-19 crisis. Programs include our upcoming Virtual Teen Retreat and our camp week in August (at this point, we are moving ahead with our plans to hold our therapeutic and educational camp session August 23-29th – we will keep you updated on any changes). We’ve moved our board retreat, trainings and program meetings to a virtual format, and our annual Catching Dreams for Kids Event will also be held in a virtual format in the near future.
Your continued support enables us to move forward with hopeful hearts.
