Al Torres: Teen Program – 20 years

I started volunteering with Camp Dreamcatcher 20 Years ago. I keep coming back each year because of the bonds created in our Camp Family.  I love watching the children develop into young adults.

My favorite camp memory is one that happened during my first year at camp.  I was standing in the parking lot saying goodbye to the campers and as the bus pulled away, it stopped.  A counselor called my name, and then he gave me a small step stool that a camper and I made together.  The camper wanted me to have it so that I would not forget him.  I still have that step stool with his name on it in my home.  I treasure it.

Outside of camp, I am the COO of a company and an owner of numerous businesses. I have two Restaurants, one Ice Cream Shop, Martial Arts Schools a consulting company, and I am the COO of the Law Firm of Peña & Kahn, PLLC based out the Bronx – And I still make time for Camp 😊.  I am from New York and work in the Bronx – one of our five New York City boroughs.  I live in Harriman, NY with my family.

Camp is a special place for us to create a safe place for our campers. The volunteers that continue to come to camp every year become family to us all.
